I used to trade tapes a lot, mostly of Phish, but quite a few other
assorted bands in there. My Internet trading of Phish led me to try
a lot of other music: Grateful Dead, MMW, and others. Then cable modems came along, and obsoleted the whole lot. But thanks to etree.org and the weasels known as the local cable company, I'm rocking in fine style and the music, as with everything else, flows like water. Well, okay, it's not quite that easy, but the fact that it's even possible to press a digitally identical copy of the original in my own home is pretty amazing. Shorten will compress a wav file such that the resulting uncompressed file is identical to the original. It kicks some major ass over mp3's. Anyone want to buy a couple really nice tape decks? |
