8:03 Josh quadrupled up from the small stack. An hour in, he’d had 3 full houses, 2 sets, and a flush.
8:25 Chris busts to Ben.
8:36 Ron to Josh.
9:24 Jane to Ben.
9:29 Josh to Dusty.
9:46 With my stack dwindling and the blinds getting to a painful 125/250, I pushed with 9To. Brett called from the BB with AQs and knocked me out.
9:48 The next hand, Brett pushed on a flop of AAJ. Ben tanked for a while but finally called with A6. Brett had bupkis in 95, and Brett was done.
10:05 Dan and Scott were the small stacks with about 2000 each. Ben and Dusty shared the spoils with about 8000 each.
10:07 Dan pushed with his 2000 and AJo. Dusty called with ATo. The flop didn’t help out Dusty and Dan doubled through.
10:31 Scott 6000, Dan 3900, Ben 5500, Dusty 4300.
10:39 Dan sucks out all-in with QT versus Ben’s AJ and doubles up.
11:04 Dusty got all-in with J7o versus Ben’s ATo, and busted out. The rest were in the money.

7:53 Greg bet out 400 on a flop. Jane hemmed and hawed for a while, then decided to push for just over 400 more. Greg showed trip queens, and Jane a flush draw. The flush didn’t come and Jane took an uncharacteristic early exit.
8:27 Josh busted out to Dan.
8:29 Adam was happy to get all his chips in the middle with QQ, but wasn’t so happy to get called by Greg’s KK. The flop came 779, the turn an A, and the river K tripping up Greg’s already winning kings. Adam was out.
8:56 Dan busted out to Matt.
9:16 With blinds at 75/150, Greg bet out 300 preflop. Matt pushed. Greg, frustrated with Matt’s big stack aggression, called with A6. Matt showed down A9 and it would soon be curtains for Greg, busting out on the bubble in 4th.
9:24 Ben busted out to me, but went home with 3rd place and $30. I was then heads up against Matt, who had about a 3-1 chip lead.
9:43 I had managed to take the chip lead by a small margin, and with blinds at 200/400, Matt pushed. I looked down to AT and called. To my chagrin, Matt showed down AJ. I was soon down to a tiny stack.
9:51 Matt had gone all-in, and I looked down to JJ and called, doubling up to his relative trash. The next hand, I looked down again to JJ and pushed, and he called with KQ. The jacks held up and I was very much back in the hunt.
9:53 With Matt down to 1700 in chips, he pushed with Qs7h; I called with Ah7c. The board came TcAd4d 7d Ts, and my cards held up. Matt took 2nd and $50; a repeat in the money from last week. I took down $80 and ended a long dry spell.

I tinkered with the buyins this week and tried out a new format… $20 with unlimited rebuys. It definitely changed the game for the wilder!
Full Roster JohnS DerekS JaneS RobertR MattH RonK PaulG ThomasM TonyW MatthewS
Almost half of the full table was comprised of new players.
7:40 Derek to Jane, and he bought back in.
7:50 TomM to MattS, and he called it quits.
8:16 Paul pushed, and I looked down to pocket 4′s. It was almost my entire stack, and an easy laydown in a normal situation. But I felt like getting my gamble on, and called. He showed 9′s, and I was crippled.
8:18 MattH to Paul, and he bought back in. It was up to $260 in the prize pool.
8:22 Robert pushed, Tony called. Rob showed TT, and Tony AK. It was a race… the flop came J5T, Rob with a set and Tony’s outs mostly coming in the form of an inside straight. The turn of 6 didn’t do it, and a river T gave Rob the quads and sent Tony packing. Tony also decided to call it a night.
8:30 With a puny stack, I pushed in the big blind with 9s4s, thinking I’d hopefully have 2 live cards. However, MattH had AA and MattH had TT. MattH ended up sucking out against the aces (and obviously my 94). I rebought, but MattH still had chips.
8:55 With the blinds up to 50/100, and my stack not much more than the starting stack of 2000, Paul raised it to 400. I looked down at KQ, and with 5 minutes left to rebuy, I pushed, figuring on picking up the pot. However, MattS called with AK and I was rebuying again, now stuck for $60. Whose idea was this unlimited rebuy crap? =)
9:00 The absolute last hand on which anyone could rebuy. Jane in early position made it 400. I looked down at A9s. An easy fold in most situations, I hemmed and hawed. Did I want to toss away a big chunk of my stack calling with a mediocre ace, with a bunch of people left to act behind me? It was the last hand in which I could still continue playing, no matter what the outcome, and I was the short stack with just over 2000. I respected Jane’s raise and folded. Three callers came behind me.
The flop will be in my nightmares for a long time… AA9. No action, though, on the flop, so I didn’t feel too bad.
Then a blank on the turn caused Robert to fire away with 500. Paul pushed. I stopped writing down what happened after that because I couldn’t see straight at that point, thinking about what could have been.
9:35 With blinds up to 100/200, Robert made it 825, the fashionable raise at the time. Jane pushed with her stack of 2800 or so. Rob called. Jane showed QTs and Rob AQs, not looking good for Jane.
The flop came T32, however, with Jane in the lead with tens. A turn of A and a river 8 sealed her fate, however. She was done.
8:46 MattH got all in with JT versus MattS’ 44. A flop of T3A gave MattH top pair. A 4 came on the turn, though, giving MattS a set. A river T gave MattH trips, but boated up MattS, and MattH was done.
9:50 Derek got all-in with AQ versus MattS’ K7. The king hit with no ace, and Derek was out.
9:59 Ron doubled through MattS
10:02 MattS got all-in with his 3500 remaining on AT, and got a caller in Ron with 77. Flop of 66J, the 7′s holding up… then a turn Q… and finally a river T and Ron would shift a chunk of change MattS’ way.
10:08 With blinds up to 150/300, and the cards just not coming my way, I finally looked down to a decent hand in AJo. I pushed with 2300, and after thinking a while, Ron called me with 89s (and a big stack). He hit his card and I was out of it.
10:31 Ron got all in with AJs to Rob’s TT. The tens held up and Ron was out in 4th. The rest would be in the money.
10:44 MattS busted out to Paul, but went away with $60.
10:58 Rob took ouit Paul for the win.

With seven players giving their input on the buyin they’d prefer to play, we settled on $30 by the time the game started at 7pm on Friday.
We had three completely new players, one in his second week, with three old timers (myself, Dan, and Any Two Will Du).
Full Roster JohnS DanH DerekS ChrisT AnnD JoshH ThomasM
8:25 Josh busted out to Derek.
8:33 With blinds up to 35/75, Derek raised it to 210. I looked down to TT and pushed with about 1500. Tom and Ann in the blinds got out of the way, and Derek, now the big stack, called with AQs. He hit his card (an ace on the turn, I think), and sent me once again to be the dealer.
8:53 With blinds up to 50/100, and Dan’s stack pretty small, he pushed preflop and got a caller in Derek. Dan turned over 89o, and Derek A4o. The ace held up and Dan was then free to go see the end of the Edmonton Oilers game.
Things then got BORING. Fold city it was. Chris kept on making his all-ins count, doubling up every time he needed it, but otherwise the table just kept pushing the same chips back and forth for a while.
9:33 Derek pushed with 2400 left. Thomas, then the big stack, called and showed As5s. Derek, however, had AdQc, and it was looking good for him to double up through Tom.
The flop came Qd9s6s. Derek had hit his queen, but the board threatened to give Tom a flush.
A turn of Qs gave Derek trip queens, but the flush to Tom. Derek would need another pair to resuck and hit a full house.
The river of 5c didn’t help and Derek, once the big stack and terminator of the first three players, was out on a bad beat.
10:08 With blinds up to 200/400, Ann pushed with her remaining 1800. Thomas called with KQo; Ann showed A9o. The flop came 7K5, Tom hitting his card, and the turn of 3 and river 6 could not help Ann. She was out on the bubble.
10:19 After rejecting an offer to chop the pot a few minutes before when they had pretty even stacks, Chris busted out Tom.
Congratulations to Tom and Chris!

I did another timelapse movie of the game; click the image to play.
Play started at 7pm with ten players, 3000 each in chips (up from the usual 2000), but blind levels the same.
8:58 Thomas, after riding a roller coaster for a while (he was all-in twice and survived), finally busted out to Stephanie.
9:47 Troy to Dean.
10:08 With the blinds up to 150/300, and my stack the shortest at 2025, I pushed with AKs. Jane called me with pocket tens, and they held up, sending me to join Troy as a dealer.
10:14 Minutes later, Dan pushed with 2150, and Robert called with a hair more, showing down QQ. Dan showed KTs. The flop came 4KQ, with Dan hitting top pair, but Robert with trips. A 4 on the turn made it a full house for Robert, and a 2 on the river couldn’t help Dan.
10:30 Down to six players, the game had settled and the stage was set for the rest of the night. Nick was the big stack with over 11k in chips. Dean was looking pretty healthy with over 6k, with the rest clustered closely… Jane 4k, Robert 4k, Stephanie 4k, and Todd the short stack at 3k.
10:35 Todd got all-in with Nick preflop. Nick showed AQ, Troy was dominated with A8… and he would go out in 6th place.
10:54 With blinds up to 300/600, Nick raised it preflop to 2000. Stephanie pushed for 700 more, and showed KJo. Nick showed AKo, again in the dominating position. The flop came J7Q, giving Stephanie top pair. However, a T on the turn gave Nick the straight and a 6 couldn’t help Stephanie on the river; she was out in 5th.
With four players left, the next one out would be the last loser of the night. Third place would pay out $100.
11:00 Dean had the dubious honors of going out on the bubble. Though he outlasted 6 other players, he would go out in 4th place with nothing to show for his work.
The remaining players then all had $100 in their pockets, and were fighting over the remaining $200 in prize money. After busting out Dean, Robert was the new chip leader, sitting behind 13,800. Nick was right behind, with 11,900. Jane was the small stack with 4300. Blinds were up to a sizeable 400/800.
Todd and I, the only spectators left, got a side bet in of $10. My horses were Jane and Nickles, and he got Robert. Nickles won a big pot soon after that, with Robert unable to pull the trigger on a call with $100 on the line.
11:07 Jane got all-in with KJo versus Robert’s A8o, and was soon out in 3rd place, but with $100 in her pocket.
It was now heads-up, with Nickles in a solid lead.
11:20 They got all-in, with Robert’s AQ versus Nickles’ J7. However, Nick, the big stack sucked it out to chalk up a first place finish and $250. Robert took second with $150.
Congratulations, Nick, Robert, and Jane, and thanks to everyone for playing!

It was a late game, getting under way at 8pm.
9:13 With the blinds at 25/50, Nick raised it to 150. Chad pushed it to 300, Tony called, and Nick called.
The flop came T83 and Nick went all-in. Chad thought for a bit and then called with an overpair, JJ. Nick showed TJ with top pair, needing a ten to suck out. It came on the river for Nickles, the birthday boy, leaving Chad with just under 400 in chips.
9:18 Just a few minutes later, Nick raised it to 200 preflop, with Chad calling with much of his stack. On the flop, they got all in, with Chad showing A4 and Nick AJ. However, Chad returned the suckout, hitting a straight on the river and bringing his stack back up to 600 or so.
9:53 Chad’s comeback was cut short by Tony.
10:03 With a flop of 7sJcTs, Jane and Dan got all-in on the flop. Janeshowed down KdJs with top pair, and Dan showed KcQs with a flush draw. The turn came As, giving Dan the nuts, and the 7h river couldn’t help Jane.
10:09 With a board of Kd8dAc7c, Tony and Nick got all-in, Tony with Ad5d and Nick As3h, looking like a chopped pot. But Nickes got his card with a 3s coming on the river. Down to three players, with the next one out the last loser.
10:14 As the short stack with about 2000, blinds at 75/150, I limped with A4 into Nick’s big blind. He raised it up, I pushed, and he quickly called, showing down AK. No 4 came, so I was out in 3rd.
10:31 Dan and Nick, after battling back and forth a bit, chopped the $120 prize pool down the middle so we could start a side game.

Play got under way at 7pm, and the table was crazy, especially in comparison to last week’s fossil garden. Bill was pushing around, showing bluffs to his cousin, and generally mixing it up. Ann "any two will" Dugan was a big stack early, hitting some big hands and getting paid off.
7:49 With blinds only to 15/30, Ann raised it preflop. Bill called. With a flop of 7d3h2h, Ann made it 400 to go, but Bill stayed in. A turn of 5h and river of Ah and Bill was all-in on the river. Ann went to the tank, but bravely called. Bill showed ThQs for a flush, but Ann showed down JhJd for a barely bigger flush. Ann took out Bill and became the dominant stack at the table.
8:54 Tony in the small blind of 50 raised it up to the rest of his stack with 350. Chris in the big blind of 100 and a healthy stack called him. Tony with 4s6s and Chris with 9h4d, and Tony’s hand was dominated. His 4 would not come… Qh8hJh Jd 9c.
9:05 Ann was dealing, and Chris and Jane decided to mix it up with her. With a flop of Th6s7d, Chris made it 250. Jane and Ann both called. The turn came 6c, Chris made it 400, Jane folded… and Ann raised it up to 1500! Chris re-raised all-in for another 1650, and Ann, with the words "This may be the stupidest thing I’ve done…. but…" called him down.
Chris showed 7s7c for the set, and Ann showed 4cTc with top pair. A river of 6d would not help her out, leaving her crippled with 625, and Chris now the monster stack.
9:16 Ann busted out to Chris
9:30 Jane busted out to Chris
9:57 Chris had shifted a chunk of his stack over to Nathan, leaving me the short stack with three of us left. I looked down to KcTh and pushed from the small blind. Chris called me down with AdQs, and after the cards came I was out in 3rd.
10:07 After building it up to even stacks, Nathan with just barely more than Chris knocked him out with a set.

The game got under way at 9pm with six players.
11:07 With blinds up to 75/150, Nick doubled the blind to 300. Mark with a short stack of 550 pushed. Everyone else got out of the way, and Nick called. Mark showed pocket pair, 7d7c, and Nick showed 5dKd…. it looked like Mark would double up.
The cards came 2hThAc on the flop, with Mark’s sevens holding up. A turn of Jd gave Nick a longshot straight draw (cue Brett’s grumbling about Nick’s river catches)… and a river of Qd gave Nick the suckout and took out our first player.
Over two hours for the first to drop may be an MSOP record!
11:22 Jane doubled to 300, and I looked down at AdJd and pushed for 1375 more. Jane went into the tank for a while, but called with ladies, QcQh.
With a board of 9hKhTd 6c 5c, I was second out.
12:08 Jane frittered away my money to Brett in a big pot, and was getting short on cash with 600 left. Under the gun, she pushed and Brett, the big stack, called.
Jane showed Ah9s and Brett Jc5c. After a flop of 6h2c4h and a turn of Ts, Jane’s ace was holding up…
…but Brett rivered a straight with 3c and sent Jane packing.
12:18 With a flop of 5h3cJd, Chad got all-in on the flop with bottom pair, Ac3d versus Nick’s top pair, JsTh. A turn of Ts and a river of Kd sealed Chad’s fate.
It was down to Nick versus Brett.
12:23 With blinds up to 300/600, Nick made the preflop bet 1500 and Brett called. On the flop of 9d8sTc, Nick pushed with Ac9c, and Brett called him down with Ad6s.
It was looking good for Nick to double up against Brett’s monster stack, but a turn of 7h gave Brett the straight, and making the river of 3h meaningless.
Brett took down the win for $80, with Nickles in second for $40.
